As an entrepreneur, but also as a person, you probably talk to a lot of different people. Yes, you make appointments, you discuss the weather and sports events. You try to sell your product or keep customers happy. Here we look at the pros and cons of a simple crm system.
These are all moments that you would like to briefly note down so that you can look them up later. To retrieve what you agreed and discussed last time. So that you can build on what you discussed earlier during the next conversation. This not only works well so that you do not have to ask the same things, but you also show genuine interest in your conversation partner if you show that you have personally remembered things.
Like an elephant?!
You could remember this. Some people can, they have a memory like an elephant. Would that really be a compliment? Well, probably. Remembering everything at once, that's easy. But certainly not for everyone.
Writing it down in a notebook is of course also a good option. Nice and old-fashioned with pen and paper. Then you at least have no distraction from all the beeps and notifications from computers or phones. Writing it down also seems to be one of the best methods for remembering. However, you cannot just add the address to the note.
Tip, don't try to remember it but write it down, or even better, note it in a CRM system.
CRM in Excel?
It remains a favorite for many people, Excel. The possibilities are unprecedented. The funny thing is that most people do not know more than 90% of the functions of Excel, but that is besides the point. Yes, you can store, link and sort a lot of data in Excel.
But is that really a nice and easy CRM system? If a colleague does something wrong, POOF, everything is gone! Conversation reports, emails and phone numbers. You don't want to think about that. Maybe it can be retrieved, but it doesn't seem like a safe thought.
Complex systems
There are many large, cumbersome and complex systems. You don't want to deal with them as a small organization. On the one hand, these systems are far too complex, and on the other hand, they are also unnecessarily expensive.
The system we used to work with had an introductory course of more than a day. After this course you should be able to work with it, but how many mistakes we made and how often we asked each other how to do it again, could not be counted on one hand.
Simple CRM system
What you want as a small organization is a simple crm system where you can get started right away. Actually just as simple as a notebook, you don't need any explanation for that, you just grab your pen and start writing. That's how simple a simple crm system should be.
