1 million? Yes, 1 million euros to be precise.
That sounds a bit lame or completely unrealistic, but if you do the math, it's not that bad. We will show that below. It is just very, very important that you start saving on time. We cannot repeat this enough. Start saving on time, even if you can only spare small amounts. Just look at the example below to see how quickly you saved €1 million. You only need to save €500 per month with a return of 6.07% (the AFM's benchmark return) to have a capital of 1 million after 40 years.
This is a simple calculation of how much you can save if you consistently put aside €500 every month. How can you do it even more cost-effectively? By putting it aside as a pension, because then the Tax Authorities will also give you a helping hand.
So if you start saving at age 25, you can retire with 1 million at age 65! Or buy a nice house/boat/car. Whatever you want. The nice thing is of course that if you have 1 million, you might even be able to live off the return.
Next time we will show you if you start saving 10 or 20 years later. So, you have it your pension has already been arranged? Or is that something you've been putting off for a while? Do not!
